Sled Island Poster Show

Project Type

Print Making, Poster Show

Date

June 2024

Location

Calgary, AB

I was selected to design the official poster for Show Me the Body as part of the Sled Island Poster Show 2024. The poster was printed as a limited-edition, hand silk-screened run by Burnt Toast Studio and exhibited for the duration of the festival alongside works by other local artists.

Sled Island is a multidisciplinary festival spanning music, comedy, film, and visual art, and the annual Poster Show pairs artists with festival performers to create collectible works that sit at the intersection of design and performance culture.

My poster responds directly to Show Me the Body’s confrontational sound and physical live presence. Using a bold linocut style, the composition emphasizes tension, containment, and release through dense linework and high contrast. The imagery leans into the body as a site of pressure and resistance.

The final piece functions both as a promotional artifact and a standalone artwork, designed to hold its own within a large-scale, high-energy festival environment while remaining tactile, legible, and uncompromising.
